How It Works:
Both lenses are placed in the polishing machine. The back of each lens is polished in a series of operations. First, it is rubbed against an abrasive polishing pad made of soft, abrasive foam. Then, the lens is polished with a pad made of smooth plastic. As the machine rotates the pads in a circular direction, polish flows over the lenses. The final step is when the pads are rotating in a circular direction, a polishing compound of aluminum oxide, water, and polymers flow over the lenses.
